2017 Edition

This year’s edition proposes to confront the theme of Freedom and Compliance: manage the intricacy, integrating individual freedom in a system of intelligent , coherent and logical Compliance.

The management of organizations is changing into community management: the community of employees and their families, shareholders, clients, suppliers, actionists and still others.

The dynamic which characterizes this particular social-economic moment, in which the complexity grows exponentially, day after day, in fact forces the organizations, with double necessity to continually create new communities and to re-examine and revitalize the existing ones, in order to achieve a context in which people can share goals and values, exchange knowledge and enhance their diversity.

With this in mind, the community is not identified only by the company, the office or a particular professional group, but with a variety of communities, which are intertwined and interconnected. This way of “Creating and managing a community” does not imply the end to subjectivity: it is the individual that goes into different communities, with all the wealth of values and knowledge that he possesses by making it available to other individuals, and, in turn, gets back other values and knowledge. The individual is not annulled, but is exalted, according to the principle that the result of integration is greater than the sum of parts.

Every organization has meaning only if it brings value to a group of communities that are connected to it. If, on one hand, all the  stakeholders and the communities they represent or to which they belong are interested, on the other hand, it is necessary to deal with a scenario in which the geopolitical, economic and environmental change, and determine – continuously  – different layouts of commitments and, at the same time, new opportunities.

Managers are thus faced with a double complexity, which requires them to make a summary of interests – even opposing – of all the communities with whom they are in contact and face a fluid situation with varying risks and opportunities.

The challenge is to be able to create – through shared rules, subsidiaries of a culture and common values – virtuous communities, within which each individual can express the maximum of freedom and creativity.

The new frontier of education aims to create people,  capable of coping with this complexity and able to develop and manage the  community (organizations), which can, in turn, spread this new vision into society.

These cases are perfectly simple and easy to distinguish.
